Initial Consultation

It is important to note that Oxford Eye Centre operates as a private billing clinic. We charge a fee which reflects the cost of our specialised and experienced ophthalmic team, as well as the cost of precision ophthalmic equipment. Therefore, bulk billing is not available.

When booking an appointment, the initial consultation fee is estimated based on the condition to which you are referred. The actual condition may differ from what was originally referred, requiring further diagnostic scanning on the day. As a result, the fee may change.

Out-Of-Pocket Expenses

We specialise in personalising your treatment and surgical plan to precisely fit your individual condition. Taking into account the variations in hospital cover and rebates offered by different health funds, we determine your out-of-pocket expense during your consultation, ensuring transparency and clarity.

If surgery is advised, our experienced staff will provide you with a detailed estimate of fees and out-of-pocket costs, along with specific payment procedures tailored to your planned procedure.

To ensure that you have the appropriate coverage, we strongly advise you to contact your health fund and verify whether your level of cover includes eye surgery.

Medicare

If you have a valid referral and your consultation or treatment is associated with a Medicare item number, you are eligible for a Medicare rebate. Our dedicated reception team can conveniently submit your Medicare claim electronically on the day of your payment. This ensures a smooth process for reimbursement, allowing you to receive the applicable rebate for the services you receive. If you have any additional inquiries or require assistance with Medicare claims, our team is always ready to assist you.
